His biography reads "Class of 1935 and trustee from 1965-76, he served both as vice president 1972-73, and president 1973-75. Trained as a medical doctor, he also served as presient of Amherst College, and at the Downstate Medical Center in New York. From 1984-87 he was president of the American University in Beirut."
